New note for 2025: We will not be offering the broad-breasted variety this year. Some of the issues we have faced include limited availability of poults, mortality during shipping, mortality due to lack of hardiness (the hybrid birds are very susceptible to sickness when young), and other such issues.

Also, we take great care to be sure our birds are raised without chemicals, as naturally as possible, but these practices are not adhered to by the hatcheries we buy the commercial poults from. Not much about the breeding, hatching, and shipping processes is natural!

So for 2025, we will only be offering the heritage Bourbon Red turkeys that were bred and hatched right here on the farm! Looking forward to 2026, we may be trying a different breed of heritage turkey that will be larger than the bourbon red, possibly giving a good alternative to the broad-breasted hybrids.
